Who made it?
These cushion covers are made by Irula Tribal women who live in very modest villages close to Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu. Having recently been taught embroidery skills, they have discovered an inspiring talent for design. They create their own unique designs for every product which they complete them with an exquisite attention to detail.
How do you give back?
The artisans live in extremely poor communities with little or no other source of income, which makes your purchase very important. These ladies are very proud and dignified women who are determined to produce high-quality work and provide for their children. They are trained by Kanimar and are paid generously for every product they make.
Each purchase helps more mothers learn new skills and earn a living to support their families. With your support, Ethihub is also helping some Irula children with their school fees, enabling better opportunities for the next generation.
